Open artist talk with Guillaume Herbaut: Documentary photo as a field for experimenting

On November 9, during a concurrent program of Bird in Flight Prize ‘20 online lecture course we’ll hold an open artist talk with a French photographer and a two-time World Press Photo award winner, Guillaume Herbaut.

In his series of documentaries Guillaume explores places with tragic history: Chernobyl, Auschwitz, Nagasaki, war-stricken cities of the eastern Ukraine. During the talk the photographer will give an account on how the Chernobyl trip changed his approach to photojournalism, on experiments in documentary photography and his search for extraordinary dimensions and stories.

Guillaume Herbaut focuses on photojournalism and documentary photography. World Press Photo 2009 and 2012 awards winner, Visa d’or and Niépce Prize prize winner. In 2016 Guillaume Herbaut received Bayeux Calvados-Normandy Award [the best war correspondents’ award] for photographs that he had made in the territory of the Ukraine.
